Toxic rain, high winds, thunder and lightning are battering the Chicago, Cicero and Schaumburg areas on Monday evening. A tornado warning has been issued.

According to an advisory, the warning is in force until at least 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Tornado sirens were heard by residents all throughout the city.

The city's Office of Emergency Management and Communications sounded the sirens, warning of a "fast-moving storm." National Weather Center and The Weather Channel predict 2-inch hail and 80-mph winds.

Residents should seek cover in a substantial building's basement or lowest interior room. Avoid windows. If you're in a mobile home or car, seek shelter and watch for flying debris, the notice says.

Englewood, Auburn Gresham, Hyde Park, South Shore, Roseland, Bridgeport, Ashburn, Back of the Yards, Canaryville and Brighton Park might be in the storm's path, according to The Weather Channel.
